Wilmington, Delaware - Arden Media Resources, a media production company based in Wilmington, has been notified by Parents' Choice that their educational video series for children has received a Parents' Choice Foundation Award. The entire "Families of the World" series, programs on India, Thailand, Mexico, Sweden and Japan, was included in the 1999 Parents' Choice Group Approval.

According to the national print and broadcast press, the Parents' Choice Awards have become the Oscars of children's products.

Parents' Choice's mission is "to get information to mothers and fathers and all involved in the lives of children so that that families, teachers and librarians can easily make informed choices and purchases for their youngsters."

Initiated in 1978, Parents' Choice is the country's only nonprofit guide to all the media for children and their commendations are the only awards with no commercial ties. As a result, their recommendations are deeply trusted by the nation's consumers and make the awards the nation's most coveted.

"Families of the World", 30-minute programs designed for children ages 5-10, documents the lives of two families in each country. New releases include programs on China and Brazil, with "Families of Puerto Rico" and "Families of the USA: Delaware" in production. Future shows include Israel, Korea and Cote' d'Ivoire.

Individual programs in the "Families of the World" video series have also won numerous awards. Most recently, "Families of Sweden" was one of seven children's videos named "Top Video Picks for 1999" by Kids First! for the 1999 November/December issue of Mothering magazine. Jim Henson Company, Time life, Universal Studios, BMG Video, Sony Wonder and Twentieth-Century Fox produced the other six winners. "Families of Japan" received an "A" rating from Parenting magazine, one of three programs for ages 5 and up that were reviewed in Parenting's September 1999 issue.
